I’ve got a problem with GoDaddy. The largest domain name registrar who’s well known Super Bowl commercials brought their name into living rooms across America, has a policy of suspending domain names over accusations of spam, then the user must pay to have the suspension reviewed or have the domain name transferred. This policy seems unethical to me. I’m sure there are legitimate reasons to suspend a domain, but there are definitely people who suffer as a result of these suspensions, businesses who lose customers, sales, etc.
Once a domain is suspended the customer must pay to transfer their domain away from GoDaddy at fees that can sometimes be up to hundreds of dollars. Under the current system, a webmaster sending out email to promote his new address can be popped for violating the anti-spam rules. There have even be reports of GoDaddy confiscating domain names for spam violations that are not even registered with them!

Other reports show GoDaddy confiscating or suspending domains based on a single spam complaint, or a single mail being used as evidence of spam. GoDaddy’s quick rise to prominence seems to have given them the feeling that they must become the policemen of the internet, much in the same way America’s super-power status makes them feel they have the right to police the world.

Search Herald recommends 123CheapDomains.com as an upstanding registrar, they may cost a little more, but they are a quality registrar that can be trusted.
